This price was achieved in the auction Japanese and Korean Art at Christies in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 4,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Utagawa Kuniyoshi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Mitsukuni Defying The Skeleton Spectre Conjured Up By Princess Takiyasha (Souma No Furudairi Yokai Ga Shadokuro To Tatakau Oya Notarou Mitsukuni) in November 2019 with an auction result of GBP 200,000.00 (€ 234,848.90).
