Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work REFLECTION II by Antony Gormley was sold in the Ancient to Modern Art from the Mougins Museum of Classical Art, Part I auction at Christies in London in December this year. It achieved a price of GBP 730,800.00 (€ 841,853.59), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 22%. Admittedly, works by Antony Gormley have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Case for an Angel I in October 2017 with an auction result of GBP 5,296,250.00 (€ 6,038,761.70).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit REFLECTION II von Antony Gormley wurde im Dezember diesen Jahres in der Auktion Ancient to Modern Art from the Mougins Museum of Classical Art, Part I bei Christies in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 730.800,00 (€ 841.853,59) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 22%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Antony Gormley auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Case for an Angel I im Oktober 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.296.250,00 (€ 6.038.761,70).
