This artwork by Rhee Seundja achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2021. In the 20th and 21st Century Art Afternoon Session auction, the work without title sold for HKD 1,375,000.00 (€ 145,348.12) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 700,000.00. Admittedly, works by Rhee Seundja have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Subitement la loi (A Sudden Law) in May last year with an auction result of HKD 5,670,000.00 (€ 673,150.68).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 96 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Rhee Seundja erzielte im Mai 2021 bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th and 21st Century Art Afternoon Session wurde diese Arbeit ohne Titel für HKD 1.375.000,00 (€ 145.348,12) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 700.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Rhee Seundja auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Subitement la loi (A Sudden Law) im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 5.670.000,00 (€ 673.150,68).
