Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Michel Majerus achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2020. In the First Open: Post-War & Contemporary Art Online auction, the work without title sold for GBP 17,500.00 (€ 19,519.92) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Michel Majerus achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work nothing is permanent in September 2021 with an auction result of USD 600,800.00 (€ 518,960.01).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Michel Majerus erzielte im Juli 2020 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion First Open: Post-War & Contemporary Art Online wurde diese Arbeit ohne Titel für GBP 17.500,00 (€ 19.519,92) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 8.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Michel Majerus erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit nothing is permanent im September 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 600.800,00 (€ 518.960,01).
