Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Margot Wearing a Large Bonnet, Seated in an Armchair by Mary Cassatt was auctioned at Bonhams in March this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,737.50 (€ 5,277.32). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mary Cassatt achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Young Lady In A Loge Gazing To Right in October last year with an auction result of USD 7,489,000.00 (€ 7,538,755.79).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Margot Wearing a Large Bonnet, Seated in an Armchair von Mary Cassatt im März diesen Jahres bei Bonhams versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 5.737,50 (€ 5.277,32) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mary Cassatt erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Young Lady In A Loge Gazing To Right im Oktober letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 7.489.000,00 (€ 7.538.755,79).
