Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Military Costume for a Lady by Léon Bakst was sold in the Russian Pictures auction at Sothebys in London in December 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,190.00 (€ 9,148.96) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Léon Bakst achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Dancer In Costume in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 624,000.00 (€ 926,659.53).

Die Arbeit Military Costume for a Lady von Léon Bakst wurde im Dezember 2020 in der Auktion Russian Pictures bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 8.190,00 (€ 9.148,96) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Léon Bakst erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Dancer In Costume im November 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 624.000,00 (€ 926.659,53).
