Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Costume Design for John the Baptist in Salomé by Léon Bakst was sold in the Russian Pictures auction at Sothebys in London in December 2020. The price achieved of GBP 4,788.00 (€ 5,348.62) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Léon Bakst achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Dancer In Costume in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 624,000.00 (€ 926,659.53).

Die Arbeit Costume Design for John the Baptist in Salomé von Léon Bakst wurde im Dezember 2020 in der Auktion Russian Pictures bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 4.788,00 (€ 5.348,62) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden.
