Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2021 Christies in New York held the auction Fields of Vision: The Private Collection of Artists Wolf Kahn and Emily Mason Live Sale, which included this untitled work by Lee Bontecou. The price achieved of USD 150,000.00 (€ 123,011.32) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 120,000.00 – 180,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lee Bontecou achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in May this year with an auction result of USD 8,690,000.00 (€ 8,156,560.92).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2021 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Fields of Vision: The Private Collection of Artists Wolf Kahn and Emily Mason Live Sale durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Lee Bontecou zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 150.000,00 (€ 123.011,32) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 120.000,00 – 180.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Lee Bontecou erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ohne Titel im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 8.690.000,00 (€ 8.156.560,92).
