Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work Bazooka Joe Red Yellow Blue, Frayed Carpet by Kate Shepherd was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in July 2020, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 3,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at USD 13,750.00 (€ 11,678.27). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Kate Shepherd; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Light Blue And Espresso, Chalkboard And Map, Dropped Ceiling sold at auction in September 2012 with the realized price of USD 27,500.00 (€ 21,390.79).

Als die Arbeit Bazooka Joe Red Yellow Blue, Frayed Carpet von Kate Shepherd im Juli 2020 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 3.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 13.750,00 (€ 11.678,27) mehr als viermal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Kate Shepherd; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Light Blue And Espresso, Chalkboard And Map, Dropped Ceiling im September 2012 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 27.500,00 (€ 21.390,79).
