Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work View of Spring from our street, 1973 by Josef Sudek was auctioned at Christies in Sydney in November this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 1,134.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Josef Sudek achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sans Titre (Étude De Nature-Morte), 1952 in November 2010 with an auction result of EUR 300,750.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit View of Spring from our street, 1973 von Josef Sudek im November diesen Jahres bei Christies in Sydney versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 1.134,00 den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Josef Sudek erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sans Titre (Étude De Nature-Morte), 1952 im November 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 300.750,00.
