This artwork by Jean Cocteau achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December this year. In the Ancient to Modern Art from the Mougins Museum of Classical Art, Part I auction, the work Orphée à la lyre sold for GBP 7,560.00 (€ 8,708.83) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean Cocteau achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Mediterranee - 1952 in December 2014 with an auction result of EUR 132,000.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Jean Cocteau erzielte im Dezember diesen Jahres bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Ancient to Modern Art from the Mougins Museum of Classical Art, Part I wurde die Arbeit Orphée à la lyre für GBP 7.560,00 (€ 8.708,83) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean Cocteau erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Mediterranee - 1952 im Dezember 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 132.000,00.
