Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Dispersal No. 6 by Jack Whitten was sold in the Contemporary Curated auction at Sothebys in New York in March 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 25,200.00 (€ 21,459.59) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jack Whitten achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Special Checking in March 2019 with an auction result of USD 2,660,000.00 (€ 2,369,077.31).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Dispersal No. 6 von Jack Whitten wurde im März 2021 in der Auktion Contemporary Curated bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 25.200,00 (€ 21.459,59) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jack Whitten erzielen.
