In May this year Phillips in New York held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session, which included the work Sedge with Trapezoids by George Rickey. The »bidding war« ended at USD 40,640.00 (€ 38,145.30), 35% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Rickey achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work One Fixed Four Jointed Lines in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 519,000.00 (€ 465,512.60).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 35 % übertroffen
Im Mai diesen Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sedge with Trapezoids von George Rickey zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 40.640,00 (€ 38.145,30) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Rickey erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit One Fixed Four Jointed Lines im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 519.000,00 (€ 465.512,60).
