DEBORAH BUTTERFIELD (B. 1949) Homage to (Lucas) Samaras painted cloth strips and staples on papier-mâché and metal armature 24 x 40 x 8 in. (63.5 x 101.5 x 20.3 cm.) Executed in 1979.
Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Homage to (Lucas) Samaras by Deborah Butterfield was auctioned at Christies in New York in December last year. It achieved a price of USD 35,280.00 (€ 32,978.13), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 18%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Deborah Butterfield achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Setsuko in November 2016 with an auction result of USD 468,500.00 (€ 442,900.36).

Die Arbeit Homage to (Lucas) Samaras von Deborah Butterfield kam im Dezember letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 35.280,00 (€ 32.978,13) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 18%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Deborah Butterfield erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Setsuko im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 468.500,00 (€ 442.900,36).
