Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work River landscape with boats moored by huts by Cornelis van der Schalcke was auctioned at Sothebys in London in March 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 378.00 (€ 444.05). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cornelis van der Schalcke achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A view of Egmond aan Zee, a horsedrawn carriage, a woman selling fish, and other figures along the beach in October 2017 with an auction result of USD 20,000.00 (€ 17,170.33).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A view of Egmond aan Zee, a horsedrawn carriage, a woman selling fish, and other figures along the beach im Oktober 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 20.000,00 (€ 17.170,33).
