Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Christopher Williams achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in March last year. In the New Now auction, the work "Valentine" typewriter, 1969, plastic (ABS); design Ettore Sottsass jun., Perry King; manufacture Ing. C. Olivetti & Co. S.p.A., Italy; h 11.5 cm, inv.no. V6.3-393; August 26, 1996 (Nr. 1–4) sold for USD 52,920.00 (€ 47,705.76) - well above the upper estimate of USD 22,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Christopher Williams; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Angola to Vietnam sold at auction in May 2000 with the realized price of USD 76,375.00 (€ 81,877.14).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Christopher Williams erzielte im März letzten Jahres bei Phillips in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion New Now wurde die Arbeit "Valentine" typewriter, 1969, plastic (ABS); design Ettore Sottsass jun., Perry King; manufacture Ing. C. Olivetti & Co. S.p.A., Italy; h 11.5 cm, inv.no. V6.3-393; August 26, 1996 (Nr. 1–4) für USD 52.920,00 (€ 47.705,76) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 22.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Christopher Williams; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Angola to Vietnam im Mai 2000 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 76.375,00 (€ 81.877,14).
