Auction result well in line with expectations
The work El Nahuatl by Carlos Mérida was sold in the Modern Art | New York auction at Sothebys in New York in December 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 6,048.00 (€ 5,343.70) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Carlos Mérida achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work El Pequeño Venado in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 212,500.00 (€ 190,600.05).

Die Arbeit El Nahuatl von Carlos Mérida wurde im Dezember 2021 in der Auktion Modern Art | New York bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 6.048,00 (€ 5.343,70) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
