Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Anthony Cudahy achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in London in June last year. In the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale auction, the work Stage (layers) sold for GBP 44,100.00 (€ 51,231.66) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 15,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Anthony Cudahy; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot the gate sold at auction in May last year with the realized price of USD 88,200.00 (€ 82,191.78).
