In May 2019 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art Day Auction, which included this untitled work by Ad Reinhardt. The »bidding war« ended at USD 93,750.00 (€ 84,088.26), 34% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ad Reinhardt achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Abstract Painting, Blue, 1953 in November 2014 with an auction result of USD 4,981,000.00 (€ 4,004,663.13).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 34 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2019 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Art Day Auction durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Ad Reinhardt zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 93.750,00 (€ 84.088,26) und damit 34% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ad Reinhardt erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Abstract Painting, Blue, 1953 im November 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.981.000,00 (€ 4.004.663,13).
