In the Contemporary Art Evening Auction auction, the work Abstract Painting, Blue, 1953 changed hands for USD 4,981,000.00 (€ 4,004,663.13) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 5,000,000.00 – 7,000,000.00. Despite this disappointing result, Abstract Painting, Blue, 1953 is the most expensive artwork by Ad Reinhardt that we have observed at auction so far.
